Obituary of Edith Brown

Funeral services for Edith Grace Freeman Brown are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, July 11 at the Arp First Baptist Church, with Pastors Mike Rice and Ervin Gould officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. She was born October 13, 1918, in Electra, Texas to the late Ira and Cora Bullington Freeman. She moved to Omen, Texas with her family in the 1920's and attended public school there. She graduated from Tyler High School. She was a faithful and devout member of the the Arp First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Brown; brothers, Mike Freeman, Durward Freeman, Granville Freeman, and Donnell Freeman; sister, Gladys Pyle; daughters, Dianna Sue Mann and Gail Griffith; granddaughter, Angela Melton; and great-grandson, Boomer Croswell. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Sheryie Brown, Saint Joe, Arkansas, Guy and Sandy Brown, Troup, Gordon and Glenda Brown, Coweta, Oklahoma, Stanley and Debbie Brown, Overton and Dale and Marilyn Brown, Troup; four daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bob Green, Troup, Linda and Jerry Cross, Chapel Hill, Carolyn and David Myers, Troup and Martha and Mike Dudley, Chapel Hill; two sisters Ruby Stanton, Overton and Lucille Rawls, Kingman, Arizona; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, July 10, 2009.
