Obituary of Charles Mullican
Funeral services for Charles Mullican, 81, Arp, will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverends Marvin Harman and Tommy Harden officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mr. Mullican died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in a nursing home in Overton. He was born March 19,1928 in Arp to the late Homer L. and Ruby Allen Mullican.
He was a life long resident of Arp and a veteran of the US Navy. He married Janie Hardy August 1, 1949 in Overton and was the co-owner and operator of L & M Body Shop, Arp.
He was a volunteer fire fighter for over 50 years and had served as Fire Chief. He served on the Arp School Board and the Arp City Council and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Arp.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Janie Mullican of Arp; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Betty Mullican of Arp; a brother, Joe Mullican of Arp; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Tammy Cawthon and Haley and Lee Clark; one great-grandson, Trey Clark.
Pallberears will be the fire fighters of the Arp Volunteer Fire Department.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Bradford, Burnell Smith, Murl Laney, Jake Florence, Dean McKnight, Sammy Wood, Rex Wood, and Carl Sieber.
Visitation will be fro 6:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the funeral home.
