Obituary of David Cook
Graveside services for David Lee Cook, 52, Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006, in the Union Grove Cemetery near Troup with Reverend Jim Norman officiating under direction of Cottle Funeral Home of Troup.
Mr. Cook died Sunday, April 16, in Athens. He was born March 7, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to the late J D Cook and Juanita Weatherford Cook. He is a veteran of the US Army and married Brenda Gregory August 17, 1985 in Longview. He worked for Marconi of Dallas as a computer engineer and moved to Athens in 1999 from Dallas.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Cook and a sister, Judy Gantt.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Brenda Cook of Athens; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Brent Sinclair of Athens, Gordon and Melinda Sinclair of Valley View, and James Cook of Athens; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Cook of Abilene and Debbie and Josh Hanby of Denton; his mother, Juanita Marks of Troup; two brothers, Donny Cook of Troup, and Jimmy Cook of Brazoria; five sisters, Cookie Gatlin of Troup, Mary Johnston of Longville, Louisiana, Debbie Tucker of Coleman, Marsha Stark of Athens, and Patricia Law of Sweeny; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces , nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Larry Murray, Terry Wofford, Jerry Gatlin, David LaMontte, Justin Gatlin, and Jason Cook.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the funeral home.
