Obituary of Billie Herron
Funeral services for Billie Louise Herron, 89, New London, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 14, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend Steve Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near New London.
Mrs. Herron died Monday, May 11, 2009, in a Nacogdoches nursing home. She was born April 13, 1920, in Abilene, to the late Robert Herman McAdoo and Willie Beatrice Major McAdoo.
She was a homemaker and a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Overton where she served as an Elder. Mrs. Herron had lived in the New London area for 69 years.
She was a caring person who often ministered to others during her lifetime. She was dearly loved and brought great joy to friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herron was preceded in death by her husband, George Albert Herron, December 2, 1986; a son, George Alan Herron, February 10, 1998; two brothers, Major McAdoo and R.H. McAdoo; and three sisters, LuRene McAdoo, Loyce Sizemore, and Joyce Nelson.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry M. and Patricia Herron, Shreveport, Louisiana, Billy G. and Unsuk Herron and Joe Bob and Kathy Herron, all of New London; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Oddie Gregg, Nacogdoches; a sister, Geneva Bates, New London; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shane Herron, Jason Herron, Darrick Henderson, Cody Herron, Justin Stubbs, Dustin McCoy, and J.B. Herron. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sandy Metcalf, J.N. Metcalf, Morgan Herron, Louie Ray Dunn, David McAdoo, and Reuben Metcalf.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 13.
