Obituary of William Chester Brinkley
Funeral services for William Chester "Doc" Brinkley, 96, Overton, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Harold Davis, Dean Grigsby and Phillip Warren officiating. Private burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Overton.
Mr. Brinkly died Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Jacksonville.
Mr. Brinkley was born October 11, 1909 in Latero, Texas to the late W. H. & Sally Brinkley. He married Lucille Ward in 1937 in Corsicana, Texas.
Mr. Brinkley was a member and deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had been a deacon in Baptist churches for 70 years. He moved to East Texas from Corsicana in 1947 and worked for Warren, Gulf and retired from Dearing Oil Company. He lived in Overton before becoming a resident at Twin Oaks Nursing Center in Jacksonville.
He was always known for his love of gardening and was always happy to share the fruits of his labor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Brinkley on December 26, 2005. He was also preceded by three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Glenda Williams of Amarillo, Allene Meador and husband Travis of Jacksonville, and Sandra Quigley and husband, Charlie of New London; grandchildren, Jeff Williams of Amarillo, Steve Williams of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jimmy Beasley of Estes Park, Colorado, Kimberly O'Neal of Jacksonville, Teresa Garner of Jacksonville and Mike Haskins of Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Brandi DeMarco of Jacksonville, Trent O'Neal of Rusk, Taylor Gardner of Jacksonville, Jason Beasley of Jacksonville, and J.T. Beasley of the US Navy; and great-great-grandson, Dylan Ferrall.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 6876 St. Hwy. 323 W., Overton, Texas 75684.
