Obituary of Vernon Stone

Services for Vernon Lee Stone, 75, Powderly, formerly of the Tyler-Whitehouse area, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 1, at the Union Grove Baptist Church, FM 15 East, three miles east of Troup, with the Reverend Jim Norman officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Stone died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Paris. He was born August 17, 1930, in Rusk County, to the late Vernon C. and Agnes Womack Stone. He was a retired electrician. He lived in the Tyler-Whitehouse area for most of his life, moving to Powderly eight years ago. Mr. Stone is survived by his wife of 25 years, Robbie Stone, Whitehouse; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Kim Stone, Whitehouse, Reverend Jim and Lounell Norman and Charley and Pam Norman, all of Whitehouse; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Steve White, Tyler and Terry and David Paine, Longview; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Christine Stone, Henderson; eleven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charley Norman, Matt Norman, Andy Norman, Ralph Lee, Rustin Lee, and John Farmer. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 Noon until service time, Saturday, April 1.
