Obituary of Lee Roy Mallard

Graveside services for Lee Roy Mallard, 86, Overton, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Overton with Reverend Lamar Pittman officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home. Mr. Mallard was born October 26, 1922 in Snyder to the late Calvin and Hattie Mallard and was the oldest of 13 children. He passed away peacefully at home April 2, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones. He was welcomed into heaven by his loving wife Blanche whom he was married to for 53 years, and numerous siblings, Almond, James, Donald, Preston, Bobbie Jean, and a son, David. He was a jack of all trades and worked as a mechanic and had a fond love of his 'junk' as family and friends referred to it. He was a kindred spirit who lived a full life and blessed life and will forever live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones. He is survived by a beloved son, Johnny Mallard and a very loving daughter-in-law, JoAnn Mallard, who he often referred to as his baby girl, both of Overton: one daughter, Erma Lou of Ajo, Arizona; brothers and sisters, K.W. Mallard and Wayne Mallard, Eunice, Carol Irene, Margaret Sue, all of West Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill Jennings, Shain Stephens, Keith Burleson, Jarred Benavides, J.W. Cochran, Joshua Cochran, and Rocky Simmons. Honorary pallbearer will be Carlton Fife.
