Obituary of Wilma Hamilton
Services for Wilma Hamilton, 88, Overton, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, February 27, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with the Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, near Henderson.
Mrs. Hamilton died Friday, February 24, in a Tyler hospice facility. She was born October 6, 1917 in Jefferson, Kansas at Fawn Creek Township to the late William B. and Ethel P. Orr Wood.
She had worked for Kilgore Manufacturing and Pope and Turner, Overton. She was a member of the Selman City Christian Church.
She married George W. Hamilton, August 17, 1940, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death, September 23, 1975, following 35 years of marriage. She then married Robert L. Richmond, October 10, 1985. He preceded her in death February 3, 1994, following nine years of marriage.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, William 'Sonny' Thaxton and Isidra 'Lucky' Thaxton; two brothers, Alva William Wood and Albert Thomas Wood; and two sisters, Ruby Maxine Wood and Hazel Louise Wood.
Survivors include a son, George B. Hamilton, New London; a daughter, Ruby H. Hamilton, Cypress; a daughter-in-law, Judy Hamilton, New London; five grandchildren, Alice, Billy, Debbie, Gerrie, and Stephen; 8 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Williamson, Beaver Cole, Jimmy Youngblood, Billy Vernon, Stephen Hamilton, and Buddy Stovall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 26.
