Obituary of Frances Brooks

Graveside services for Frances Perkins Brooks, 88, Mineola, formerly of Arp and Henderson, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, February 13, at the Mason Cemetery, Arp, with the Reverend Marvin Harman officiating, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Brooks died Saturday, February 11, 2006, in Mineola. She was born January 24, 1918, in Athens, to the late Ira F. Lewis, Sr. and Anna Lee Harrel Lewis. She was a graduate of Athens High School. Mrs. Brooks lived in Arp for 35 years where she and her husband operated Perkins Cleaners for 26 years. She had also been a resident of Henderson for 14 years. Mrs. Brooks also worked for East Texas Medical Center for 13 years. She was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husbands, Hiram Perkins, in 1977 and by Belton Brooks. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ira F. Lewis, Jr. and Joe Lewis; and two sisters, Nell Queen and Billie Ruth Cleere. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Edna Perkins, Corsicana; a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Mike Gregory, Lindale; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Jean Lewis, Mansfield and James Lewis, Rusk; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Charles Hudson, Rusk; six grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and Russell Johnson, Kimberly and Todd Lane, Melissa and Greg Brown, Clint and Cheryl Perkins, Jeremy and Gloria Perkins and Karie and Derek Robinson; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
