Obituary of Venetta McAfee

Services for Venetta Ellen Trent McAfee, 101, Tyler, formerly of Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, January 9 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with Edith Brewer and Reverend Ray Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mrs. McAfee died Saturday, January 7, 2006, in Tyler. She was born September 18, 1904, in Stanford, Kansas to the late Samuel Douglas Trent and Elizabeth Ellen Root Trent. She was a housewife and had also served as a volunteer home demonstration agent and during World War II, worked for the Red Cross. She was a writer of short stories and many poems. She loved to crochet and do all kinds of hand work. Mrs. McAfee was a member of the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse. She married Elmer McAfee in Independence, Kansas August 7, 1920. He preceded her in death, September 12, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Marion D. and Petie McAfee. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Lee and Jo McAfee and Norman H. and Jackie McAfee, all of Hawkins; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and James Murphy, Whitehouse; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren
