Obituary of Barron Florence

Services for Barron A. Florence, 80, HenryÕs Chapel near Troup, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 11, at the HenryÕs Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverends Tolbert Dill and Jim Powell officiating. Burial will be in HenryÕs Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Florence died Sunday, January 8, 2006 in a Tyler hospice. He was born April 14, 1925 in the HenryÕs Chapel community to the late Marion and Jewette Barron Florence. He graduated from Carlisle High school and attended North Texas Agricultural College, Arlington. Mr. Florence was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a rancher and had served many years as a member of the Carlisle School Board. He had also received many agricultural awards including being named the Soil and Water Conservation District Farmer of the Year. Mr. Florence had also served on the Austin Bank Customer Advisory Board. In addition to his parents, Mr. Florence was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Lucille Florence and Floy Dees. He married Mary June Cramer, in Carlisle, October 17, 1946. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary June Florence, HenryÕs Chapel; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cherie Florence, Tyler; a brother and sister-in-law, M.J. and Pat Florence, HenryÕs Chapel; two sisters, Sara Helpenstill, Freeport and Evelyn Downs, Grapevine; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Matthew and Shelley Florence, League City; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lori Sadler and Dennis Sadler, Jr., HenryÕs Chapel; and two great grandchildren, Ashlyn Florence and Dylan Florence. Pallbearers will be Matt Florence, Dennis Sadler, Jr., Andy Tarver, Scott Florence, Tony Florence, and Jimmy Helpenstill.
