Obituary of Alcie Freeman
Graveside services for Alcie Reed Freeman, 87, Arp, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, January 26, at the Overton City Cemetery with the Reverend Namon Miller officiating, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mrs. Freeman died Sunday, January 22, 2006, in a Tyler hospital. She was born April 30, 1918, to the late Haywood and Tinnie Wilson Reed. She had been a resident of the Arp area for the past 45 years. She was the first drum major at Overton High School from 1936 until 1938.
She was a cashier for Piggly-Wiggly in Overton for many years and was a seamstress and an artist. She was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur S. Freeman, Sr., September 27,1983, and also by a son, Larry Freeman, and a sister, Florence Ketchum. and brothers Holland Reed, Hazel Reed, Miller Reed, Woodrow Reed, Fleetwood Reed.
Survivors include her son, Arthur S. Freeman, Jr., Arp; a daughter, Shirley Ann Broussard, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; and four grandchildren, Richie Broussard and wife Kelli, Troy Broussard, Terry Broussard and wife Susan, and Chanin Broussard; and nine great grandchildren, Francis, Jacque, Jean-Paul, Jana, Misty, Scotty, Cody, Devin, and Brittiny.
