Obituary of Lela McClure

Mrs. Lela Stephens McClure was taken Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2006. She was greeted by a multitude of relatives and friends who celebrated her arrival at her eternal Home, where she now dwells forever. Services for Mrs. McClure, 89, Flint, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 31, at the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup, with the Reverend Robert Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Arp. Mrs. McClure was born June 2, 1916 in Knox County, Texas to the late Andrew Jackson and Gertrude Short Stephens. She was a resident of Troup for 20 years before moving to Flint 24 years ago. She married Fred P. McClure in Haskell, January 20, 1934, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 2004 after 70 years of marriage. She was a member of the The Church of God of Prophecy in Tyler and was devoted to raising funds for missionaries. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Eugene McClure, two grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sonja McClure, New Comerstown, Ohio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Chumley, Whitehouse and Ann and Ron Visser, Edmond, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chad McClure, Brandon Langston, Brian Langston, Luke Green, Zack Green, and Wesley Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Chumley, Ben Dudas, and Cody Johnson.
