Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Larry Duvall Hanson became absent from the body and present with his Lord on February 14, 2006, surrounded by people who love him. He was born in Troup, January 23, 1945, to Milven and Zora Olive Duvall Hanson. He graduated from Troup High School in 1963, attended Tyler Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin State College, and received a BBA from Tyler State College, now UT-Tyler, in 1975. He served with the U.S. Air Force and did a tour of duty in West Berlin, Germany. In 1977, Larry joined the fire department for the city of Tyler and served there as a firefighter until his retirement in 2000. During those 23 years, most of them at Station 5, he especially treasured his camaraderie with his fellow fire fighters. Larry enjoyed sports, music, and learning, and he passed his talents along to his beloved daughters. He liked to play volleyball and golf, and he was a long-time member of Overton Golf Club, where he truly loved his golfing buddies. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist and loved and appreciated the church family. Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sarah Ann Allen Hanson; by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Jan and Grady Haffner of Overton, and Jennifer Lynn and Shannon Arrington of Arp; and four grandsons, Caleb and Noah Haffner, and A.J. and soon-to-be-born Fisher Arrington. Other survivors are his mother, Zora Olive Hanson of Troup, his sister, JoAnn Roberts of Arp, and numerous nieces, nephews, and others who love him. Pallbearers will be Allen Kee, John Allen, J.B. McCollum, Sammy Allen, Gabriel Gobea, and William Tapley.
