Obituary of Wendel Maples

Wendel Gordon "Bugs" Maples, died Monday, February 20, 2006 in Tyler. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Maples was born May 28, 1933, in Whitehouse to the late Ben W. and Clara Warren Maples. He was a lifetime resident of the East Texas area. He had served in the United States Air Force and was retired after 25 years with Strohs Brewery, Longview. He was a member of Dixie Masonic Lodge, #272, Troup. He married Gretta Etheridge in Ardmore, Oklahoma, November 12, 1974. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Gene Maples. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Gretta Maples, Whitehouse; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Benjamin Wheeler Maples and Becky Maples, Lake Worth, Ethan Allan Baggett and Chad Edward Baggett, both of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Eric Sean Baggett, Fort Worth; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa Sue Maples Terry and Chris Terry, Richland Hills, Wendelyn Etna Tallant and Richard Tallant, Fort Worth, and Tina Jo Brady, Brownwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Wanda Maples, Troup; and a sister, Jo Noble, Shertz; 18 grandchildren; 7 great -grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
