Obituary of Norman Cook
Graveside services for Norman Cook, 84, Longview, formerly of Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, in the Overton City Cemetery with Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mr. Cook died Friday, January 2, 2009 at his residence in Longview. He was born March 25, 1924 in Murchison to the late Clyde and Fannie Mae Pharris Cook. He was a life long resident of the East Texas area and was a WW II Veteran and served in the US Army. He married Clara Dee Painter June 25, 1952 in Overton and retired from Crosby Lebus in 1989 where he worked as a welder. He was very much loved by all his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara D. Cook February 5, 2006 and two sisters, Elsie Moffet and Mary Jo Bewley.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Tommy and Donna Lea Cook of Overton, Cody Cook of Kilgore, Clint and Brenda Cook, Longview, and Casey and Shelley Cook, Longview; two brothers, Overand Cook and Danny Cook, both of New London; two sisters, Berta Smires of New London and Shirley Gibbs of Overton; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, January 3.
The family would like to express their extreme appreciation for the loving care by the doctors, nurses and staff of Beacon Hospice of Longview.
