Obituary of Ernestine English

Services for Ernestine M. English, 78, Overton, are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, December 8, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with Charles Seale officiating. Private burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, Wright City. Mrs. English died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in a Henderson Hospital. She was born December 5, 1930, in Panola County to the late Thomas Jefferson Minter and Pearl Ritter Minter. Mrs. English was a housewife, was a 45 year resident of the Overton area and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wright City. She was also a guitarist and song writer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James English, a son, David English, and a daughter-in-law, Wanda English. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Melinda English, Arp, Thomas Leon English, New London, Joe and Tina English, Overton, and Edward and Marcelene English, Henderson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Seale, Wright City and Bettye and George Smith, Lake Village, Arkansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Noah and Linda Minter, Overton and Les and Siegel Minter, Beckville; a sister and brother-in-law, Merle and James Beck, Ruston, Louisiana; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, December 7.
