Obituary of Jim Chustz
Services, with Masonic rites, for Jim Chustz, 67, Overton, are scheduled for 9:30 am, Thursday, October 2, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with the Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating.
Graveside services, with military honors, are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Thursday, October 2, at the Faulkenberry Cemetery, in Groesbeck.
Mr. Chustz died Saturday, September 27, in Tyler hospital. He was born July 7, 1941, in Gladewater to the late Joseph H. and Ozella Webb Chustz. He was a 1959 graduate of Overton High School.
Mr. Chustz served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. He retired from U.S. Steel in Houston and Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, Tyler. For 20 years, he owned and operated the County Line Club in Kilgore.
Mr. Chustz was a member of the First Baptist Church, Overton and was a member of the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge #63, Overton. He was currently a member and Post Commander of the Laney-Gambrell American Legion Post #418, Troup.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Ann Chustz.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Chustz, Overton; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Heather Strange, Phenix City, Alabama; an adopted daughter, Niki Jones, New London; two stepdaughters and a step son-in-law, Tiara and Chris Calcote, Jacksonville and Heather Honzell, Tyler; two nephews, David Chustz, Kilgore and Mike Chustz, St. Paul, Minnesota; two nieces, Teresa Spears, Wisconsin and Terry Beasley, North Carolina; and two granddaughters, Brooke LaPoma and Mikaela LaPoma.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Wednesday, October 1
