Obituary of Pansy Martin

Funeral services for Pansy Martin, 89, Arp, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 15, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverend Charles Chargois officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery near Tyler. Mrs. Martin died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in a Tyler hospital after a short illness. She was born October 18, 1918 in Vanburen, Arkansas to the late John and Leatha Gaines Boyd. She lived in Arp over thirty years and was know as the cake lady. She worked as a caregiver for the Longview Disability Services. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Charley Martin in 1969. She was also preceded by a granddaughter, Teresa Smith in 2008 and four brothers and a sister. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald and Kay Martin of Mt. Pleasant and Danny Martin of Arp; a daughter, Betty Martin of Arp; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Vera Boyd of Hubert, Oklahoma; a sister, Donna Sue Smith of Troup; seven grandchildren and spouses, Linda Poore and Darrell, Lisa and Randy Carroll, Randy Barger, Steve Smith, Amy and Gary Webb, Charley & Ronda Martin, and Clifford Martin; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews including Kelly Barton. Pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Randy Barger, Chris Smith, Joe Smith, Nathan Carroll, Charley Martin, and Clifford Martin. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Williamson, Marc Webb, B. J. Webb, Corey Martin, Colton Martin, Dakota Martin, and Brady Martin. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. Until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, at the funeral home.
