Obituary of Grace Addington

Funeral services for Grace Leadima Quinnett Addington, 94, Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, September 8, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend Richard Boone officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 9, at the Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson, Oklahoma. She was born July 22, 1914, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to the late Francis Marian Quinnett and Bessie Matilda Lint Quinnett. Mrs. Addington moved to Overton in 1942 from Oklahoma City. She was a member of the AARP and a Past Grand Noble of the Rebecca Lodge. She was also a member of the Extension Homemaker Club and was a member of the Chevron-Gulf Retirees of East Texas. Mrs. Addington served as a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years and worked for Loggins Restaurant in Tyler for 10 ½ years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Overton where she served in the Class Ministry of the T.E. Land Fidelis Class for 19 years. Mrs. Addington married William Henry Harrison Addington, Jr, in Tulsa Oklahoma, October 12, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Alloyus Addington in 1934 and by two great grandchildren. There are six sets of five generations in the family. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Mary Jo Addington and David and Jeanie Addington all of Tyler and Lloyd and Kay Addington, Longview; three daughters and a son-in-law, Grace Calhoun, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Barbara and Freddie Womack, Troup and Brenda Bell, Overton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Sunday, September 7. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, TX 75701 or to the American Heart Association.
