Obituary of John Keen
John M. Keen, Sr, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at his residence. Private services will be held at a later date.
He was born December 5, 1938 in Vienna, Illinois, to the late Theodore and Minnie Mercer Keen. Mr. Keen was a resident of Fairfield, Illinois for 32 years prior to moving to Turnertown in 1976.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War. Mr. Keen was a member of VFW Post 8535, Henderson, VFW Post 4002, Longview and the American Legion Post, Longview.
He was a retired painter, mechanic and oil field worker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wives, Carol Keen in 1964 and Betty Keen in 2006 and by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Northcutt in 2006 and Wanda English in 2008. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charles Keen and David Keen.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Ron and Cheryl Simonton, Longview, John M. Keen, II and Michael Keen both of Turnertown; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Ron Porter, Tyler; two brothers, Elmo Keen, South Beloit, Illinois and Kenny Keen, Fairfield, Illinois; a sister, Wanda Buckles, Sedelia, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
