Obituary of Laverne Cobbs

Funeral services for Laverne Cobbs, 77, Overton, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 in the First Baptist Church, Arp, with Reverend Mike Rice officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery, Arp. Mrs. Cobbs died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in Tyler. She was born June 5, 1931 in Corley, Arkansas to the late John William Morgan and Violet Lavada Bray Tucker. She married Herbert Edwin Cobbs December 25, 1954 in Ozark, Arkansas and moved to Overton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. She enjoyed oil painting and her family was the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Edwin Cobbs August 17, 2005 after fifty years of marriage. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joel Edwin and Jenna Cobbs, Botswania, Africa, Dale Allen and Cindy Cobbs, Henderson; a daughter and son-in-law, Gay Nell and Cody Bishop, Flint; three brothers, Luther Tucker, Lawton, Oklahoma; Lawrence Tucker of Clarksville, Arkansas, and Kenneth Tucker, Paris, Arkansas; six sisters, Dovie Johnson, Silvia Anderson, and Venita Smith, all of Paris, Arkansas, Frieda Willis, Cameron, Oklahoma, Florence Corley, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Kathy McNeese, Cleburne; seven grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Jennifer Weaver and her husband Justin Weaver, Jonathan Cobbs, April Bishop, Chris Bishop, Josh Cobbs, Julie Cobbs, and Zachary Cobbs. Pallbearers will be Noel Brown, Jonathon Cobbs, Nicholas Wilcox, Christopher Bishop, Joshua Cobbs, and Zachary Cobbs. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, from 6:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
