Obituary of Roy Glenn Baxter

Services for Roy Glenn Baxter, 55, Houston, relative of Troup area residents, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with Reverend David Goodwin and Judy McFarland officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Henry's Chapel Cemetery, near Troup. Mr. Baxter died Friday, June 27, near Jasper. He was born October 2, 1952, in Dallas to the late Emmitt Roy Baxter and Margaret Nell Hawthorne Baxter. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and was a bus driver and had worked for Sierra Trailways for the past three years. He had been a resident of Houston since 1983. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Roy 'Peewee' Baxter. Survivors include his wife, Rose Faye Baxter of Houston, son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Judy McFarland, Conroe; daughter, Amanda Pittman, Houston; son, Freddie Allen, Houston; Grandchildren, Donnie, Jennifer, Adam, Alexandra, Andrew and Ashleigh; Great-grand children, Christopher, Jamie, Stephanie, Arista, Madison and Jackson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat and Henry Wright, Van, Joyce Piper, Fort Worth, and Judy and Garland Edelhauser, Wolfe City; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a great-great niece; a along with a host of friends that he loved just like family. Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Monday, June 30.
