Obituary of Thomas Hancock

Graveside services for Thomas C. 'John' Hancock, 70, Arp, are scheduled for at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Mason Cemetery, Arp, with the Reverend Marvin Harman officiating, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Hancock died Sunday, June 22, 2008 in Tyler. He was born September 9, 1937 in Tyler to the late John W. 'Cotton' Hancock and Billie Sparks Hancock. He was a lifetime resident of Arp. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Elks Lodge and the Antique Car Club. He enjoyed good neighbors, yard work and playing in the garden. Mr. Hancock was a retired geologist and was branch manager for regional overseas operations for Sperry-Sun. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a nephew, Wayne Broadus. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and April Hancock, Van; a daughter, Lynette Hancock, Douglas, Wyoming; a sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Vern Broadus, Tyler; five grandchildren, Chelsea Hancock, Hannah Hancock, Ian Hancock, Daniel Hancock, and Grace Hancock; and a niece, Lorie Muhlhauer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vern Brodus and John Hancock.
