Obituary of Rev. Roy Crossland
Services for Reverend Roy D. Crossland, 82, Arp, will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 9, at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, Arp, with Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery under the direction of Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Reverend Crossland died Sunday, January 5, 2014 in Tyler. He was born October 1, 1931 in Honey Grove to the late Ira Calvin and Euna Lillian Prowse Crossland. He lived in Arp for the past 20 years and retired from Brown & Root in 1993. He was a Mason and pastored several churches in Texas and one in Arkansas. He enjoyed working puzzles and sports, especially football, baseball and fishing. He also enjoyed construction and carpentry. He was a member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, Arp.
Besides his parents, Reverend Crossland was also preceded in death by his wife, Wenona Jo Crossland, and a sister, Cleo Harris.
Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Crossland, Whitehouse, Pamela and Glenn Underwood, Lindale and Donna Beddingfield, Whitehouse; a step son, Bobby Earl Hemby, Austin; a step-daughter, Susie Hemby, Austin; five brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Bernie Crossland, Gilmer, Dean and Cleon Crossland, Gilmer, Jerry and Betty Crossland, Lewisville, Joe and Dawana Crossland, Gilmer, and Mike and Barbara Crossland, Wichita Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dennie Jordan, Carthage; four grandchildren, Brandon Beddingfield, Jason Beddingfield, Amy Arndt, and Emily Underwood; three great grandchildren, Matthew Arndt, Stephanie Arndt and Emily Rose Arndt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Beddingfield, Jason Beddingfield, Glenn Underwood, Dennis Jordan, Mike Crossland, and Joe Crossland.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Crossland, Dean Crossland, and Jerry Crossland.
The family will receive friends at the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, Arp, Thursday, January 9, from 1:00 pm to: 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
