Obituary of Lois Durham

Services for Lois E. Durham, 75, of Arp, will be at 1 pm. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Marvin Harman officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Arp. She loved to laugh, she love to sing, and she loved to dance. Heaven will be brighter and more fun with her arrival. "Mimi" Lois E. Durham was born May 28, 1938 to Lonnie C. McGuire Sr. and Grace Knous McGuire in Arp, Texas. She passed into the arms of the Heavenly Father on December 29, 2013. She grew up in a family of 5 brothers and two sisters, three of whom predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her parents. She was educated at Arp School and served as a cheerleader in Jr. High. With her vivacious personality, she fit the role very well. She loved family, the one she was born into and the one who was born to her. She had three boys in her union to Bill Randall. During her marriage to George Durham, her husband of 33 years, she helped rear two of her grandsons. She loved children and worked as a day-care worker. She also helped to rear some children who were like her own to her. Her favorite roles in life were mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but she was a loving wife, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. She was a member of the United Methodist Church from an early age and knew Jesus as her Savior. She is survived by her husband, George Durham, sons James Michael Randall and wife Sherri, Douglas C. Randall and wife Darlene, Patrick M. Randall and wife Diane. Grandchildren include Douglas Randall, Michael Randall, Cole Randall, Emma Randall, and one great-grandchild Bentley Randall. Other survivors include brother Lonnie McGuire and wife Jaye, Clyde McGuire and wife Nancy, Maxie McGuire and wife Pat, and sister Sue Roberts. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends, Judy Coever, Jennifer George, Anna Bradberry, and Shelly Barberee. Pallbearers will be sons, grandsons, and nephew Robin Roberts. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, January 3, prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 p.m In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of East Texas 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701.
