Obituary of Juanita Martin

 Services for Juanita C. Martin, 89, Arp, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 27, at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be at Mason Cemetery, Arp under direction of Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.      Mrs. Martin passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 in Kilgore. She was born October 20, 1924 in Rural Smith County to the late Charlie and Jimmie McMinn Carpenter. She was a lifelong resident of Arp where she and her late husband, Frank Martin, owned a rose nursery, an antique dealership and Juanita Martin Realty. She also held jobs as a secretary and bookkeeper. During her lifetime, she was active in community affairs including PTA, Community Club, Garden Club, Band Boosters, Athletic Boosters and Eastern Star as well as being a long time member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist.      Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Neita Fran and Bill Ward, Arp, and Anna and Bill Clary, Henderson, a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Delia Martin, Odessa, two sisters, Lorene Kirksey Wilkerson, Arp, and Barbara Torrez, Tyler; a brother, Royal Carpenter, Japan; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.      Besides her parents, Juanita was also preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years, Frank Lee Martin, two sons, Frank Lee Martin Jr. and Charlie Martin, and a daughter, Betty Swinney.    Pallbearers will be grandsons, Marv Harman, Dylan Martin, Heath Martin, Robert Clary, Michael Clary, Billy Menard and Ethan Martin.     The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m.
