Obituary of Gary Walden
OVERTON — Services for Gary Don Walden, 55, Overton, are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Wednesday, December 18, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, with the Reverend MIke Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mr. Walden died Monday, December 16, 2013, in Kilgore. He was born May 8, 1958 in Dallas to Don Walden and the late Betsy Ruth Hargus Walden. He moved to Overton from Flint and has been a resident of Overton for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Christian Writers Association and he was a freelance writer. He was an interpreter of sign language and a member of Sign Language International. He was a member of the Baptist Student Union and a past president. He married Gina Lee Bain October 3, 1981 in Allen, Oklahoma and he was a doting husband. He was a loving father and a mentor to many mens groups.
Besides his mother, Mr. Walden was also preceded by a son, Micah M. Walden.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Gina Walden, Overton; two sons, Joel Walden and Joshua Walden, both of Overton; two daughters, Rachel Walden and Anna Walden, both of Overton; his father and and step-mother, Don and Peggy Walden, Canton; a sister, Susie Bailey, Ben Wheeler; a special friends, Keith and Beate Simpson, Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hargus, George Hargus, Rex Vaughn, Nathan Bailey, Bil Barkley, and Larry Launders. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Bain and Lorne Bain.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, December 17 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 p.m.
