Obituary of Linda Beasley
Graveside services for Linda Jean Beasley, 73, Arp, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at Salem Cemetery, Wright City, with Reverend Tommy Harden officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mrs. Beasley died peacefully in her sleep Monday, December 9, 2013, in Arp. She was born July 24, 1940, in Brownwood, Texas to the late Wilburn and Alma Alice Albert Martin.
While raising her family in Abilene, she was a member of the Presidents Club for AVON, worked as a legal secretary, and belonged to the community group S.P.Q.O.H. (Society for the Preservation of Quant Old Homes). She also worked as a seamstress for Cloth World, making clothes that were displayed on their in-store mannequins.
Mrs. Beasley moved to Tyler in 1980 and worked for Bonar Packaging until retiring in 2004. Her joy came from quilting, knitting, crocheting and other crafts. She also loved trying new recipes, as well as family recipes from her great-aunt and grandmother, always cooking and baking delicious dishes for her family and friends.
Mrs. Beasley was a seamstress and quilter for many years until her passing. She belonged to Cyber Friends Quilters Guild, and joined its "Quilts With Love" mission, making 17 of the 3,600 quilts for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. She also made children's quilts to benefit the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County (CASA) as well as their Burn Camp for children.
She looked forward to the fourth Friday of every month when she would collect admission at the Garden Valley Road Senior Center for their monthly senior citizen dance.
Mrs. Beasley was also preceded in death in 1993 by her beloved son, Taylor Wilburn Daniels.
Survivors include a son, Clayton W. Daniels, Georgetown; a daughter, Carol Jean Daniels, Fort Worth; two sisters, Janice Renee Martin, San Diego, California and Francine Adele Kruzitski, Little Elm; two grandchildren, Kelsey Granum and Melissa Kiser; two great-grandchildren, Knoah Kiser and Arrena Granum; and two nieces, Sharla Hibberd and Michelle O'Rear.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.
The family also asks in lieu of flowers to send donations to the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County. You may donate online at www.CACSMITHCOUNTY.ORG
