Obituary of Essie Bolton Mitchell
Services for Essie Bolton Mitchell, 86, Gilmer, a longtime Troup resident, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 11, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend James Parrish officiating. Burial will be in the Tecula Cemetery in Cherokee County.
Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, June 9, in a Longview nursing home. She was born August 28, 1921, in Jacksonville to the late Charlie and Maud Scruggs Thomason. She was a resident of Troup for over 20 years until moving to Gilmer four years ago.
She was a homemaker and loving mother. She also worked at Nichols Industries, Jacksonville, and American Clay, Tyler. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Indian Rock Baptist Church, Gilmer.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Lee Bolton and Claude Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Pamela Bolton, Mason Page, and Kathy Linkinhoker and three brothers, Walter Thomason, J.D. Thomason, and Charles Thomason.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Eldred Lee and Kathy Bolton, New Summerfield, Kenneth and Carolyn Bolton and Raymond and Linda Bolton, all of Tyler; seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Ruby and Billy Joe Hamilton, Troup, Carol and David Linkinhoker, Gilmer, Delores and Nolan Jeske, Troup, Shirley Crawford, Longview, Rosemary and Roy Tomlin, Tyler, Bonnie Berg, Longview, and Ellen Tomlin, Troup; a brother, Kimbro Ferrell, Jacksonville; a sister, Sunshine Pate, Troup; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 11great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Russell Bolton, Bradley Bolton, Tony Linkinhoker, Michael Bolton, Bubba Tomlin, and Josh Tomlin.
Grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers are Scott McMillan, Rocky Bolton, Barry Bolton, Ricky Hamilton, Micah Saddler, and Brian Tomlin.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 10.
