Obituary of Thelma Williams

Services for Thelma Williams, 89, Arp, will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 23, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery near New Chapel Hill. Mrs. Williams died Monday, November 18, 2013 in Whitehouse. She was born May 13, 1924 in Slayton to the late Avie Elmo and Ollie Dae Bateman Williams. She married Willie Paris Williams, Jr. December 19, 1942 in Arp and retired from Tom Thumb Grocery Stores in 1990. She moved to Arp in 1991 from Euless and was a homemaker and a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was a loving mother of her five children and her hobbies were her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her cats and dogs. Besides her parents, Mrs. Williams was also preceded in death by three brothers, Odie Williams, Doyle Williams and Bert Williams, a sister, Lois Allen, her son, Steve Williams in January, 2007 and by her husband Willie Paris Williams, Jr., September 25, 2003. Survivors include four daughters, three sons-in-law, Angie and R. W. Smith, Cumby, Pam and Ron Shantos, Pottsboro, Cindy and Ron Fry, Austin, and Patti Langston, Arp; a daughter-in-law, Suzette Williams, Grand Prairie; five grandchildren, Kim, Tracy, Chris, Blake, and Patrick; and six great-grandchildren, Marissa, Tristan, Brandon, Avery, Madison, and Clayton; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Justin Sherwood, Peyton Moore, Darrell Shackelford, Chance Cornett, Michael Randall, and Trey Tate. Donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75702.
