Obituary of Hiram Sexton

Services for Hiram 'Al' Sexton, 77, Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, at the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse, with the Reverend Ray Davis and Mrs. Edith Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Sexton died Sunday, June 1, 2008 in a Tyler hospital. He was born January 13, 1931 in Plymouth Falls, Oregon to the late Marion Ted and Ermma Christine McDaniel Sexton. He married Iva Pickle, March 31, 1950 in Oklahoma City. He retired in 1986 after 34 years of employment with the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company. He had served his country in the Navy Reserves. He had been a Baptist Deacon for 40 years and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Iva Sexton, Whitehouse; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri Jean and Mutt Cantwell, Troup; three grandchildren, Brian Stuart Kennedy and his wife, Mari-Carmen, Whitehouse, Cody Michael Cantwell and Lindsay Michelle Cantwell, both of Troup; three great-grandchildren, Aubrianna Faith Cantwell, Madilyn Elizabeth Kennedy, and Taylor Faith Sieber; an aunt, Annie Garrison, Portland, Oregon; an uncle, John Sexton, Mena, Arkansas; and numerous nephews. Pallbearers will be Brian Kennedy, Cody Cantwell, Mutt Cantwell, Joe Sparkman, Sam Brewer, and Terry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
