Obituary of Jack Fry

Services for Jack William Fry, 82, Tyler, will be at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 24, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel. Private burial will be Wednesday, September 25, in Overton City Cemetery.  Mr. Fry died Saturday, September 20 in Tyler. He was born August 25, 1931 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Homer and Virgie Fry. He was raised in Overton and graduated from Overton High School in 1949. He received his college degree at Stephen F. Austin University in 1952 and was a high school science teacher, football and track coach from 1952 until 1972.  Jack then became a high school administrator from 1972 until 1992 and retired from the Texas Public School System in May of 1992, as the superintendent of Winona Independent School District in Winona. He then became a licensed real estate agent and worked as an agent with Choice Properties Real Estate in Tyler from 1994 until 2009. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Irene Grice. Survivors include his two sons, Joe and John Fry, Tyler.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 24, prior to the funeral service.
