Obituary of Billie Harper

Services for Billie Jean Thompson Harper, 81, New London, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 7, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with  Reverend Fred Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near New London. Mrs. Harper died Friday, August 2, 2013, at East Texas Hospice. She was born August 5, 1931, in Overton to the late Grant and Alma Wise Thompson. She married Thomas Eugene Harper in Henderson, December 10, 1948.  Billie lived in Baytown prior to moving to New London in 1996. She worked as a LVN many years ago and was a homemaker. She loved to do crafts and loved to laugh.  Billie was a great caregiver for her husband and had a special love for everyone, especially her grandchildren She attended the Overton First United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Grant Thompson and Beall Thompson, a sister, Kathleen Stark, and her husband, Thomas Eugene Harper.  Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas D. and Pam Harper, Houston and John Kelly Harper, Fort Worth; two sisters, Mary Lea Sieber, Arp, and  Lerline Stokely, Kilgore; three grandsons, Grant Harper, Jeff Harper and his wife, Adrienne, and Sam Harper; a great grandson, Jerich Harper; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 am, Tuesday, August 6. Online registration and condolences are available at www.cottlefuneralhome.com.
