Obituary of Helen Swinney

Graveside services for Helen Lorene Swinney, 79, Kilgore, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, in the Overton City Cemetery with Reverend James Shepherd officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Swinney died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in a Longview hospital. She was born January 25, 1929 in Grossback to the late Lum and Daisy Lambert Carroll. She lived most all her life in Kilgore. She resided in Arp for 23 years and she took care of many elderly people in the community. She enjoyed cooking and and took food to many of them. Mrs. Swinney was a waitress and had worked at the Post Office Cafe in Kilgore. She also ran the 5 Points Cafe in Kilgore. She resided in the Gregg Nursing home in Kilgore for the past 10 years where she was very vocal. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She loved baking sweet potato pies for Dr. Hamilton and crocheting prior to being disabled by her hands. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Lynn Wuench and Frank James Swinney. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Carl and Joanne Wuench, Clifton Wuench, and Michael and Pam Wuench, all of Kilgore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and John Anderson of Longview, and Susie and Ralph Minor of Harleton; a sister, Erma Nell Tankersley of New London; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and several nieces.
