Obituary of James Galloway
Services for James Galloway, 71, Troup, will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 3:00 pm, in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Jimmy Curtis, Jan Pate, and Andy Cox Officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, near Troup.
Mr. Galloway died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at his residence. He was born November 14, 1941, in Concord, to the late Joseph Ernest and Bessie Lee Johnston Galloway. He worked as a supervisors for Pipe Fitters Local #211 for 47 years and served as vice president on the Concord Cemetery Association Board. He served as president for the Concord Community Water Board and was a member of National Riffle Association.
Besides his parents, Mr. Galloway was also preceded in death by his son, James Steven Galloway.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Martha Ann Pate Galloway, Troup; daughters and son-in-laws, Katrinia Spring Wells and husband Charles, Pollock, Louisiana, April L. Hawbarker and husband Michael, Houston, Leigh Ann Thurman and husband Kent, Mt. Selman, and Angel Mae Coggins and husband Jason, Madison, Ill; chocolate daughter, Brandie Anderson and husband Hershel, Jackonsville; sons and daughter-in-law, John Dennis Galloway and wife Jennifer, Hallsville, and Johnathan Alexander Galloway, Austin; "sisters", Linda Childress, Troup; Frankie Murphy, Troup; "brother", Billy Childress, Troup; special friend, Nettie Fay Potts, Troup; and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Husband, Brian Futch, Buddy Husband, Johnny Husband, Josh Owens, and Andrew Owens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Childress, John Owens, Jr., Charlie Mahaffey, and Clois Martin.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 24.
