Obituary of Loys Ducksworth

Funeral services for Loys L. Ducksworth, 86, Arp, are schedule for 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 27 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverends Atwell Hankins and Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Arp. Mr. Ducksworth died Monday, March 24, 2008 in Tyler. He was born December 29, 1921 in Troup to the late Martin M. and Lena LeFils Ducksworth. He was a graduate of Arp High School. Mr. Ducksworth was a retired truck driver and he raised cows and hay. He was employed by Baker Tank Company and Tyler Pipe. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Arp. He married Elvin Lorene Phinny December 28, 1941, in Arp. Their marriage was good from the start to the finish. He was the best husband who ever lived and put his wife before everyone else. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Toby Ducksworth; a great-grandson, Cole Ducksworth; and a brother, Albert Ducksworth. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elvin Phinny Ducksworth of Arp; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Collette Ducksworth of Arp; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Jim Jameson, Jonesburg, Maine; three grandchildren and their spouses, Sam and Donanne Ducksworth, Elizabeth and Kevin Watkins and Blaine and Crystel Ducksworth; and four great-grandchildren, Damien Ducksworth, Logan Watkins, Emma Ducksworth, and Macey Ducksworth; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sam Ducksworth, Blaine Ducksworth, Glenn Carpenter, Tony Nash, Bob Ducksworth, and Troy Moore. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 26.
