Obituary of Bettie Burgins

Funeral services for Bettie Marie Burgins, 71, Arp, will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, in the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with Reverend Tommy Harden officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery near Henderson. Mrs. Burgins died Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Tyler. She was born December 29, 1936 in Tyler to the late Clifford Lee & Christine Hooper Martin. She lived in Arp most all her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lakeview Tabernacle Church at Lake Tyler. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known affectionally by her grandchildren as 'Grandma' and by her great grandchildren as 'GiGi'. She will be greatly missed by her dog CeCe. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Bennie Donald Burgins on February 1, 2002 and her husband of 22 years, Dewayne Morris, who was the father of her children. She was also preceded by a brother, Clifford 'Bullet' Martin. Survivors include, three sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Lacy Morris of Lindale, Tommy and Debbie Teel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Ricky and Toby Morris of Marshall; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and James English of Arp; a brother, Cecil Martin of Rusk; five sisters, Sue Dowdle of Tyler, Bobbie Story of Cedar Creek, Patti Fowler of Tyler, Kathy Ramirez of Dallas, and Cecilia Hamm of Decaturville, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, Holly Carpenter, Kim Morris, Bo Morris, Jared Monk, Michelle Monk, Blaine Morris, Chelsea Morris, Logan Morris, Morgan Fulbright, Molly Fulbright, Shawn Ishee, Jason Ishee, James Douglas English and Melinda 'Sissy' English; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Shawn Ishee, Jason Ishee, Blaine Morris, Logan Morris, James D. English, and Tony Cowart. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.
