Obituary of Glynn Stephens
Graveside services for Ellis Glynn Stephens, 89 of Overton, will be at 2:00 pm, Friday in the Overton City Cemetery with Reverend Fred Parsons officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home.
Mr. Stephens passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Overton. He was born August 14, 1923 in Ben Wheeler to the late Eddie E. and Faye Stanford Stephens He married Margaret Palmer Silvey in New Boston on October 31, 1957 and was a retired independent oil operator.
Glynn graduated from New London High School, class of 1940, and Kilgore College. He also attended University of Texas at Austin and SMU. He served 3 ½ years as a hospital navy core man during World War II doing duty in the Philippines. He is a member of the First Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Faye Bennett.
Surviver include his wife, Margaret Stephens, Overton; his sister, Edith Stephens; his stepson, Paul Silvey and wife Jane; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, from 6:00 to 7:00 at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton.
