Obituary of Eva Hobson

Graveside services for Eva Mae Hobson, 87, Wright City, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at Lakewood Cemetery in Henderson with Rev. Artie Jones officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Hobson was born on February 7, 1921 in Drumright, Oklahoma to the late Charles Joseph Kester and Amanda Jane Kester. She was a graduate of Salem High School, Stamps-Baxter School of Music and McVie Business School. She performed her patriotic duty by serving in the 8th Corps Area Service Command, Dallas during World War II. Mrs. Hobson worked for Amarada Petroleum Company in Tyler for 14 years and retired from the Rusk County Clerk's office in Henderson after 14 years of service. She was a christian and a member of the Turnertown Baptist Church. Mrs. Hobson was a devoted and loving wife, wonderful mother, and a cherished friend. She was an accomplished pianist and music was an important part of her life. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Amanda Jane Kester Rebecca Lodge in Henderson which was named in honor of her mother. She was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband of 42 years, Howard Hobson, infant daughter, Susie Hobson, infant twin sister, Ava Kester, brothers, Leaun Kester and Robert Kester. Survivors include her son, Joe C. Hobson and wife Deana Hobson of Tyler; grandchildren, Joshua Hobson and wife Tyler Hobson of Austin, Landon Hobson of Austin and Jelyn Hobson of Tyler; nieces, Sherry Kester Culp of Crockett, Dana Kester Hart of Winnsboro and Shellia Brunson of McKinney; and a nephew, David Alan Kester of Rio Vista. The family expresses their deep appreciation to Dr. Khoren Hekimian, the staff at the Overton Healthcare Center and of Heart to Heart Hospice for the professionalism, care, and kindness displayed during this time of illness.
