Obituary of Melba Spencer

Graveside services for Melba Jean Spencer, 87, New London, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Mason Cemetery, Arp, with Reverend Josh Blizzard officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Spencer died Monday, March 4, 2013 in a Tyler hospital. She was born August 16, 1925 in Smackover, Arkansas to the late Otis and Rebecca Murry. She lived most all her life in New London and worked as a seamstress for L. R. Davis. She also worked as  a nurses aide for Sunshine Nursing home in New London. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Tommy Spencer. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Tammy Spencer, Turnertown and Donnie and Carolyn Spencer, Overton; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Don Crawford, New London; five grandchildren, Donald Crawford, Katina Carter, Torrie Cook, Christal Blizzard, and Coy Spencer; eight great grandchildren, Myranda Renfrow, Gary Lynn Higginbotham, Brayton Pierce, Megan Martsolf, Lexie Martsolf, Ty Cook, Macie Blizzard, and Jett Blizzard; a great great grandson, Carter Renfrow; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Carter, Cody Cook, Don Crawford, Donald Wayne Crawford, Coy Spencer, Gary Higginbotham and Brayton Pierce.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
