Obituary of Richard Arnold

Services for William 'Richard' Arnold, 77, Arp, will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, at Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with Reverend Tommy Harden officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery with Firemans honors.  Mr. Arnold died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, in Tyler. He was born December 6, 1935, in Arp to the late Loys and Clara Woolf Arnold. He was a lifelong resident of Arp and graduated from New London High School in 1954. He attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas in Austin. He married Barbara Ann Anderson December 27, 1958, in Arp and was a welder for Anderson Tank Company for fifteen years. He retired from Baker Tank after twenty two years. He was devoted to Arnold Farms and ranching. Mr. Arnold joined the Arp Volunteer Fire Department in 1968 and had served as fire Marshall, assistant fire chief and as president of the board for two terms. Besides his parents, Mr. Arnold was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Arnold. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Arnold, Arp; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Suzanne Arnold, and Mack and Kim Arnold all of Arp; two brothers and a sister-in-law,  Jim and Bess Arnold, and Dr. Paul Arnold, all of Tyler; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Drs. Janice and Baker Pattillo, Nacogdoches; four grandchildren, Scott Arnold, Lauren Arnold, Matthew Arnold and Hunter Arnold; a great granddaughter, Emori Greenhouse; nine nieces and nephews; twenty five great nieces and nephews; and two great great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Hunter Arnold, Keith Arnold, Walt Arnold, Wes Arnold and Andy Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Arp Volunteer Fire Department.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday, January 25. Memorials may be made to the Arp Volunteer Fire Department, 107 West Longview, Arp, TX 75750 or to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701.
