Obituary of Margaret Gibbs
Funeral services for Margaret Gibbs, 87, New London, will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Hayman officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, near Henderson.
Mrs. Gibbs went home to be with her Lord Monday, January 21, 2013, in Lindale. She was born February 17, 1925, in Burkburnett to the late Thurman and Maggie Cortney Gordon. She married Robert G. ' Bob' Gibbs June 24, 1941, in Slick, Oklahoma and moved to New London in 1948 where she lived until moving to Overton in 2009. She worked fifteen years for Neman Marcus, Henderson, as a seamstress and then she was co owner and a leather craftsman for Gibbs Leather Shop in New London from 1970 until she retired in 1987. She was a member of London Baptist Church, where she had served on the benevolence committee. She relocated to Lindale in 2011.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Robert G. ' Bob' Gibbs, on February 22, 2002.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Billie Louise Gibbs Borders, Kilgore, and Phyllis Gail Gibbs and John Harper, Hideaway; a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel Gordon and Bill Stubblefield, Bristow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and spouses, Dereck and Beverly Borders, Daylen and Kara Borders and Andrea and Shawn Bates; six great grandchildren, Chelsi Borders, Sydni Borders, Chase Borders, Bryce Borders, Caleb Bates and Caitlin Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Bates, Shawn Bates, Daylen Borders, Dereck Borders, Billy Vernon, and John Harper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, January 23, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
