Obituary of Rayburn Tomlin
Services for Rayburn Hicks Tomlin, 91, Troup, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Bob White officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Whitehouse.
Mr. Tomlin died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Tyler. He was born May 6, 1921, in Fort Worth to the late Aubrey Hicks Tomlin and Berta Rawlings Tomlin. He had lived most of his life in the Troup area. He married Wilma Burgins on September 4, 1942.
He was a WW II veteran having served in the army.
He had served as a Church of God minister for over 30 years, pastoring most of that time at the Arp Church of God. He had worked as a brick mason his whole life.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Tomlin; three brothers, Roy Tomlin, Ray Tomlin, and Richard Tomlin; a sister, Reba Williams; and a grandson Michael Tomlin.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Wilma Tomlin, Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sherri Tomlin, Henderson; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Cordelia Tomlin, Weatherford; a sister, Ruby Zardigkas, Caldwell; grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Lynna Tomlin, Kimberly and Zack Socia, and Joshua Tomlin; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, January 14.
