Obituary of Billie Grandstaff

Services for Billie Morrow Grandstaff, 78, Overton, TX are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Overton with the Reverends Gene Steger and Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home. Billie joined our Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. She was born April 4, 1934, in Flint, TX to the late Reverend James Morrow and Lizzie Denman Morrow and grew up in Arp, TX. She had been a resident of Overton for the past 58 years. She married Dale R. Grandstaff on November 5, 1954 at Fair Chapel Methodist Church, in Wright City. She had worked for the Arp State Bank and and then managed the Shell Credit Union for 20 years. Mrs. Grandstaff had been a member of First United Methodist Church, Overton for the past 53 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grandstaff was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dale R. Grandstaff of Overton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy and Stanley Strickland of Winona, Sharon and Ed Holden of Tyler and Rexann Howell of White Oak; and a granddaughter, Rachael Holden. Pallbearers will be Billy Vernon, Tony Chiles, Jim Hamblen, Jim Hamilton, Mike Piercy and Jim Parnell. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Overton VFW Post #9185. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, January 11. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Azalea House for their special attention and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, Waco.
