Obituary of Howard Lee Nichols
Funeral services for Howard Lee Nichols, 76, New London, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 5, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend Artie Jones officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery, in the Goodsprings community of Rusk County.
Mr. Nichols died Friday, February 1, 2008 in an Overton Nursing Home. He was born December 17, 1931 in the New Salem Community of Rusk County to the late R.E. and Maudie Masters Nichols.
He owned and operated Nichols Contractors in New London until he retired.
Mr. Nichols was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church in the Good Springs Community.
He married Katie Mae Lummus, June 2, 1950, in Good Springs.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Katie Mae Nichols, New London; two sons and a daughter-in-law , Bobby and LaWanda Nichols and Sammy Nichols, New London; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Tommy Chadwick, Arp, Peggy and Mitch Chandler, Costa Rica, and Judy and Kirk Carter, Price; four brothers, Calvin Boyd Nichols, New Salem, Clifford Nichols, Crowley, Jimmy Nichols, Temple, and Willie Nichols, Fort Worth; two sisters, Carol Beggs and Ann Holt both of Kilgore; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jody Nichols, Chris Allen, Jeremy Allen, Dustin Nichols, Damon Nichols, and Kole Carter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters, great grandsons and great granddaughters, Kim Greenway, Mikey Stanley, Bandy Nichols, Savannah Carter, Rance Stanley, Reese Stanley, Brian Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Nikki Brousseau, Macy Stanley, Madison Stanley, Shelby Nichols, Abby Nichols, Burkelyn Allen and Sydney Allen.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, February 4.
