Obituary of Rev. George T. Hamilton

Services for Rev. George T. Hamilton, 89, Whitehouse, are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church, Whitehouse with the Reverends Randy Shipman and Michael Fleming officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Rev. Hamilton died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in a Whitehouse nursing home. He was born February 3, 1923, in Troup to the late Joe W. and Maude Baty Hamilton. He had been a resident of Whitehouse since 1978. Rev. Hamilton was a longtime minister and had Pastored the First Assembly of God Church in Mixon and the First Assembly of God Church in Troup. He was also a longtime builder and developer who built several churches and developed his Whitehouse neighborhood. Rev. Hamilton was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Whitehouse. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Dowdy Hamilton, May 20, 1999, and seven brothers and sisters. He loved to hunt quail with his brothers and raised bird dogs.  He always wanted his family around him. He was called Pappadaddy by those who loved him. His family is happy he is spending this Christmas with Jesus. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patricia Hamilton of Whitehouse; four daughters and sons-in-law, Doyce and Allen Harris of Murphy, LaDinah and Rick Randall of Rowlett, Devena and Steve Worl of Whitehouse and Rhonda and Brooks Herrick of Richardson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Logan and Lucille Hamilton and James "Junior" and Ann Hamilton all of Troup and Delbert and Maxine Hamilton of Price; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruby Kee and Betty and Tim Martin all of Concord, Lillie and Dewayne Mahaffey of Henderson; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be David Toole, Glenn Dowdy, Jason Hamilton, Wesley Worl, Corey Herrick and Cody Herrick. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday, December 14. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Pleasant Hills Children's Home, P.O.
