Obituary of Lillian Thompson

Funeral services for Lillian Thompson, 90, Overton, will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Don McPhearson officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens near Henderson. Mrs. Thompson died January 27, 2008 in a Henderson hospital. She was born June 26, 1917 in Rusk County to the late Charlie Napoleon and Cora Dorsey Dickerson. She graduated from Longview High School and lived most all her life in Overton. She retired from Sunshine Nursing Home, New London in 1988 where she had worked as a cook and she was a member of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Henry Knighton and her oldest son, James Leonard Knighton. Survivors included her husband, Jim Douglas Thompson of Overton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wilford N. and Carrolynn Knighton and Harvey Wayne and Rebecca Knighton, all of Overton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie and Bill Archer of Overton; a brother, Charles Hugh Dickerson of Tyler; a daughter-in-law, Nickie Knighton, Flint; twelve grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
