Obituary of Jessie Farmer
Services for Jessie D. Farmer, 76, New London, are schedule for 10:00 am, Friday, February 11 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with Reverend Ken Hayman officiating. Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Friday, at the
Line Creek Cemetery, near Ida, Louisiana.
Mr. Farmer died Monday, February 7, 2011, at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born February 10, 1934, in Rodessa, Louisiana to the late Jesse D. and Ada Keel Farmer and had been a resident of New London since 1969.
Mr. Farmer was an Army Veteran serving from 1955 until 1964 as a military teletype operator. He retired from Trane, Inc., Tyler following 32 years of service from 1964 until 1996.
He was a Past Worshipful Master at the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge, No. 63, Overton and was also a Past Patron of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Chapter No. 597, Henderson. He was a member of the London Baptist Church.
He married Betty R. Evers in Linden, Texas, December 31, 1957. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Evers Farmer, New London; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Eric Arnold, Overton; a grandson, Justin Arnold and a granddaughter, Kerry Arnold, both of Overton; a brother-in-law, Max Evers, Lufkin; a sister-in-law, Junie Farmer, Ida, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 10.
