Obituary of Jack Black
Services for Jack Black, Palestine, formerly of Overton are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend Ronnie Glover officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near Winona.
Mr. Black died Thursday, November 22, 2012, in Palestine. He was born July 17, 1925, in Tyler to the late John C. and Ida Henson Black. He was a longtime resident of Overton until moving to Palestine four months ago.
Jack was a loving father and grandfather. He was a great man of God who lived a fulfilling life. He provided for his family doing the things he loved most as a private investigator and as head security guard for LeTournea University and Pinkerton.
Mr. Black was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Overton.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Black.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Alecia and Jeffrey Cooper of Palestine; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Cora Black of Aquilla, Jacky Black of Turnertown and Howard and Rene Black of Kilgore; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Black, James William Black, Howard Black, Carl Warner; Jason Black and Alex Beck.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Joshua Black.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 25.
